A Higher View of Jesus

He calls it a rant and invites readers to ignore it, but the Evangelical Outpost pens a post that would benefit every believer.

The flimsy disagreements of several commenters at that site perhaps reveal the sad state of American evangelicalism.

Very good and very thought-provoking.

I admit that I am 'twixt and 'tween these thought points. I don't advocate bringing Christ to the baser level of popculutre. But I do advocate stressing the intimacy a believer has with God. So many athiestic arguments against the faith are based on a distillation of the Christ-communicant relationship to a punishment/reward system. I like to stress that there is a richness beyond that once inside the walk with God. That is why I stress salvation as a personal relationship.

HOWEVER, I think it is very important to continue to ascribe the due amount of reverence and majesty to God, Christ and Christ's sacrifice.
